Ever since their relegation to the Championship, there’s only been one goal for Aston Villa – to regain their place in the Premier League. That was the goal at the start of the season under Steve Bruce, and it’s still the aim under Dean Smith.
It’s not going to be easy, given the poor start to the season that the Villains had, but things have picked up over the last few weeks, thanks to a few fantastic individual performers.
Now, a couple of wins separate us from the play-off places, and that’s exciting heading into the second half of the season.
However, it seems as though some Aston Villa fans are concerned that one particular thing could derail their season. It’s been reported over the last few days that striker Tammy Abraham could leave the club this month, with Chelsea assessing whether a move to the Premier League would aid his development.
This would, of course, be a huge blow for Villa, and fans recognise that. We recently asked Aston Villa supporters whether losing Abraham could cost the club promotion, and a whopping 71% of those polled believe that it would.
Abraham has, of course, scored 16 league goals this term, and so if they were to lose that, the Villains would be in big trouble.
There’s still a chance, of course, that he could stay, but losing him is quickly becoming a very real possibility, and one that they must prepare for.
