# Trophy-laden star hints at Man United contact after big money transfer links

**This deal would really excite the Manchester United supporters who are waiting for their drinks in the Transfer Tavern. Indeed, life has been far from easy for our resident Red Devils in recent days after their loss to Sevilla in the Champions League, so they need all the good news they can get.**

Well, Raphael Varane has reportedly disclosed that Manchester United have been in indirect contact with the Frenchman over a possible move to Old Trafford. Indeed, speaking to El Larguero (via [the Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/5827991/real-madrid-defender-raphael-varane-admits-there-has-been-interest-from-manchester-united/)), the French international has spoken out about the matter.

When [asked](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/5827991/real-madrid-defender-raphael-varane-admits-there-has-been-interest-from-manchester-united/) about contact over a potential deal, the 3-time Champions League winner [revealed](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/5827991/real-madrid-defender-raphael-varane-admits-there-has-been-interest-from-manchester-united/):

“No, not directly. There were contacts, but not directly.”

The 24-year-old was signed for Real Madrid by the current Red Devils boss, Jose Mourinho, and the pair were [touted](https://www.diariogol.com/real-madrid/marco-asensio-filtra-la-oferta-del-united-de-mourinho-que-acepta-florentino-perez_541076_102.html) to be reunited in Manchester. However, it seems the deal fell flat despite some [apparent](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/5827991/real-madrid-defender-raphael-varane-admits-there-has-been-interest-from-manchester-united/) contact, much to the annoyance of our resident Red Devils.

As you can imagine, they’d have loved him.

**Landlord’s verdict**

The Frenchman is a defender of great repute. During his time at Real Madrid, he has established himself as one of the most skilled defenders in world football. His arrival would significantly enhance the quality of Jose Mourinho’s squad, while also reducing the gap that currently exists between them and Manchester City.
