# TT Valuation Evaluation: Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard

**This article forms part of our Valuation Evaluation feature series, which is where Football Transfer Tavern takes a look at the increase or decrease of a player’s [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/) valuation and whether it is justified or not.**

When Odsonne Edouard joined Celtic on an initial loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2017, according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/344152), his market valuation was only £1.35m.

That valuation has since gone up to £13.5m, while reports in January suggested that Leicester City [could be willing to pay up to £30m](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-striker-odsonne-edouard-30m-21232799) to secure the French striker’s services in the future. Undoubtedly, Edouard is not worth £1.35m anymore and the increase in his valuation is completely warranted.

This season, he has already scored 21 [SPFL](https://spfl.co.uk/stats-centre) goals, building on the [15](https://www.statbunker.com/competitions/TopGoalScorers?comp_id=618) he scored last term. Given the strength of the Scottish Premiership, some will have their doubts, though it is important to remember that the 22-year-old has made an impact in Europe. He has [assists against Lazio](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdaten/spieler/344152) in the Europa League and has also managed to find the back of the net against Danish giants FC Copenhagen.

Edouard has been on fire at international level, too, netting a total of [11](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/344152) goals in just six appearances for France’s U21 side. Indeed, the former PSG man looks the real deal, with manager Neil Lennon recently lauding his quality.

“What a player he is – his all-round game is so good,” the Celtic boss told [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51391206) at the start of February. “He’s only 22 and he’s just a joy to watch at the moment. I don’t like building players up but it’s very difficult not to when you have a player of that quality playing the way he is.”

Yes, this is a striker whose stock is truly on the rise.
