# TT Valuation Evaluation: Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi

**This article forms part of our Valuation Evaluation feature series, which is where Football Transfer Tavern takes a look at the increase or decrease of a player’s [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/) valuation and whether it is justified or not.**

It is probably fair to say that Callum Hudson-Odoi made quite the impact at Chelsea last season.

Particularly in the Europa League, the 19-year-old truly flourished under former boss Maurizio Sarri. In nine appearances, he scored four goals, provided two assists and recorded an average of 3.3 dribbles per game ([via WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/15/Archive/England-Chelsea)) — only Ruben Loftus-Cheek (3.6) and the brilliant Eden Hazard (4.5) managed more.

No wonder Bayern Munich threw everything at Chelsea last January in [their attempts to sign the youngster](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/11620847/callum-hudson-odois-transfer-request-rejected-by-chelsea), whose contract was running down at the time. He has remained at Cobham, though, where he completed his rehabilitation from that serious Achilles injury he picked up and signed a [new five-year deal](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/09/19/callum-hudson-odoi-agrees-new-chelsea-contract).

According to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/callum-hudson-odoi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/392768), the England international currently has a market valuation of £31.5m, which is an increase from his valuation of £22.5m last year. And given his potential, you would have to say that number has some foundation behind it.

Despite playing significantly less minutes than fellow attackers Willian and Mason Mount, Hudson-Odoi has still managed to register the same number of assists as the two (four). With [1.5](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/15/Show/England-Chelsea) unsuccessful touches per game, his ball control has also been superior compared to Willian (1.8) and Mount (2.3).

In the coming months, there will be a lot of talk about new boy Hakim Ziyech, who will [join the Chelsea ranks from Ajax in the summer](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2020/02/13/chelsea-transfer-news--deal-reached-with-ajax-for-hakim-ziyech-). However, at just 19 years of age, Hudson-Odoi looks to be the club’s future and just one individual manager Frank Lampard should be trying to build his team around.
