# Tussle For Sought After £2M Midfielder Should Be Resolved January

**Wigan could have a fight on their hands to hold on to talisman midfielder Mohamed Diame as Wolves, Stoke, Aston Villa and even Sevilla are reportedly interested in him.**

Roberto Martinez’s men currently sit just in the relegation zone, two points off Wolves in 17th so the loss of such a valuable player would make their survival fight even harder.

Diame is out of contract in the summer and has been in talks for months over an extension, if a deal is not worked out soon Wigan may be faced with a tough decision on whether to cash in on any money they can receive.

Given the proximity of his current club to Wolves in the table a move to Molineux would seem unlikely, as does a switch to Sevilla.

However the no-nonsense 24-year-old is just Alex McLeish’s type of player, but whether he would find a regular place at Villa is another matter, given that former Wigan midfielder Charles N’Zogbia is also there.

Stoke is the much more likely destination for the Senegalese international with a possible £2m bid expected early on in the January transfer window.

Although if the Christmas fixtures go well for Martinez’s men he may feel a gamble is necessary to ensure survival and try to hold on to the player until the summer at least.
