Sunderland: Fans gush over Bailey Wright’s performance against Rochdale
Sunderland produced an accomplished performance to brush Rochdale aside in a convincing 3-0 win, and some fans were quick to praise Bailey Wright after the match.
The defender arrived on loan from Bristol City last month and has already made a good impression, helping the side to keep three clean sheets in four games by adding organisation to the defence. He has been an important addition since Alim Ozturk was sidelined with injury and Phil Parkinson deserves credit for what is proving to be a ‘class signing‘, according to one supporter.
Wright has proven his quality by making 130 Championship appearances and achieving promotion from League One with Preston – the issue for him is maintaining fitness. If he can do that, then perhaps the 27-year-old could become something of a fan favourite, as some supporters have been vociferous in their praise for him after the Rochdale match and it is clear to see why. Indeed, the visitors had just two shots, with their only effort on target coming from a hopeful 25-yard drive.
