It has been a terrible year to be a Bradford City supporter, hasn't it?

Despite starting the 2018/19 campaign in positive spirits, the Valley Parade faithful soon realised that their side were in for a real struggle in League One after they suffered a number of poor results.

Although the Bantams would change their manager on two occasions in eight months, the sincere lack of quality in their squad ultimately culminated in them finishing nine-point adrift of safety.

With Gary Bowyer clearly needing to launch a complete overhaul of his squad this summer, the fact that he has given Daniel Devine a new contract could indicate that he may be willing to put his trust in Bradford's academy players next season.

An exciting young prospect, the midfielder has been limited to just 34 appearances since making his debut in 2016 yet with his side dropping down in level, he will be hoping to establish himself as a mainstay in the first team.

Reacting to the news that Devine had agreed to stay at their club for at least another year on Twitter, loads of Bradford fans expressed their delight at the decision.

Having led Blackpool to promotion from League Two in 2017, Bowyer will be confident that he can achieve the same feat with Bradford in the upcoming campaign.
