Charlton Athletic: Fans react to tweet confirming that the club have joined TikTok - Charlton Athletic

Some Charlton Athletic fans have been reacting negatively to a recent post from the club’s official Twitter account which shared the news that the Addicks have officially joined “the fastest growing social media platform”, TikTok.

An article that was published by Forbes back in February 2020 claimed that TikTok has grown “by a staggering five-fold in just an 18-month period” in the US, helping it to become the fastest growing social media platform in the world at present. This Forbes article goes on to declare that the app “cannot be ignored if you are active on social media” now, due to its rapid growth.

Charlton Athletic have become the latest club to launch an account on this app, after recently confirming that the club’s supporters can now use TikTok to “see new Charlton videos in a more light-hearted way, including footage of players in the behind-the-scenes environment”, in an announcement that was shared via the club’s official website

Some Addicks supporters have been reacting negatively to the news that their club have joined TikTok in response to the club’s recent tweet sharing this news, with one Charlton fan stating that they are “disappointed” in the club for creating an account on the app which Forbes state “is referred to as being largely for kids”.
