Leeds United: Fans left shocked after Whites equalise from corner kick against Brentford

Corner kicks aren’t the strongest part of Leeds United’s game, as shown by their struggles this season.
Following the game against Wigan Athletic, the Whites had scored from just four of the 231 corners they had this season, the lowest conversion rate in the Championship. In terms of defending the set piece, the Yorkshire outfit had conceded the second-highest percentage of their goals from corners (6.7%), with only Huddersfield Town possessing a higher number (7.5%) (via LUFC Data).
You can imagine the shock some supporters got when they found out Marcelo Bielsa’s men had equalised from a corner in last night’s 1-1 draw with Brentford. Liam Cooper stabbed home a cross from Jack Harrison, albeit after David Raya failed to deal with the delivery from the 23-year-old (via BBC). Nonetheless, it still counts as a goal from a corner kick, something which surprised many of the disbelieving Elland Road faithful. One fan simply couldn’t believe the nature of their equaliser against the London outfit, describing it as ‘madness‘.

Maybe that’s the solution to our scoring crisis. Just play for corners from now on 👍
