Leeds United: Fans react to Adam Pope’s update on Rui Marques

Many Leeds United fans have been reacting to some comments from former star Rui Marques, who has revealed he still has lots of fond memories about his old club, in an exclusive interview with the BBC’s Adam Pope.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Marques opened up in a wide-ranging interview and discussed his time with the Peacocks, admitting: “I’m really proud to wear the shirt. It’s a massive, massive club, unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to take the club to the Premier League like this was one of my dreams when I was at Leeds.”
The 42-year-old added his best moment in the famous Whites jersey was when the first team fought back from the infamous -15 points penalty after their demotion to League One, saying: “it’s in my head and it’s going to stay for the rest of my life. It’s gonna stay in my memories forever.”
After arriving at Elland Road on a free transfer from CS Maritimo all the way back in 2005, Marques initially struggled to make much of an impression under Kevin Blackwell, and ended up being shipped out on a short-term loan to Hull City.
Despite a rocky start to his career in England, the ex-Angolan international didn’t give up, and made 95 appearances for United in total, including playing 17 games in the Championship, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist (Transfermarkt).
Predictably, plenty of supporters responded to Marques’ candid chat with Pope, with a large portion of the LUFC faithful gushing over his latest comments. One fan dubbed the “underrated” defender as a “colossus,” while another simply called him a “hero.”

I remember the Bristol Rovers home game (not *that* one) in 2007/08 and he was absolutely unplayable. Absolute rock at the back
