Luton fans take to Twitter in a panic after Burton slip up

Luton Town looked like they were home and dry in the race for the title in League One this season. The Hatters, though, have won just once in their last five outings, and have set up one hell of a finish for next weekend. Should the Kenilworth Road faithful celebrate a win next week then the title will come with it, even if they could have secured it yesterday.

Losing away at Burton will have been so tough to take, but it’s something they’ll have to just stomach and get on with. The next game they face is Oxford United at 17:30 in six days time. It won’t be easy, but it’s certainly one that the fans have waited a very long time for and if they do manage it and return to the second tier of English football then it will be a testament to Mick Harford and the club.
Even with a draw or a loss, they could still go up automatically, but it all depends on how Portsmouth get on, as the Fratton Park faithful have got six points to play for as opposed to three. For the Hatters, though, the only safe way of securing Championship football is by getting a win against 11th placed Oxford United, who now have nothing to play for as neither relegation nor a playoff spot is possible.

The Hatters haven’t made it easy for themselves in the last few weeks, but anything is possible as they look to finally secure the League One title in six days time.
