A number of Rangers supporters have criticised Ianis Hagi’s performance in their win at home to St Mirren on Boxing Day.
After enjoying Christmas Day with loved ones, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side were back in Premiership action today. It was St Mirren who made the trip to Ibrox looking to spring a surprise, with the Gers’ opponents sitting ninth in the table before kick-off.
Meanwhile, Rangers went into the festive action knowing that a win would maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table and Van Bronckhorst’s side did just that, cruising to victory at Ibrox.
However, one player who struggled at times was Hagi, with the Romanian being classed as one of the home side’s poorest performers according to SofaScore metrics.
The 23-year-old won just one of his eight duels against the Buddies and failed to get a shot on target or make an interception. His tally of 24 successful passes was the fewest of any Gers outfield starter, while he also lost the ball seven times.
Rangers fans criticise Hagi’s display
These Rangers fans took to Twitter to lay into Hagi’s performance this afternoon.
“Hagi is rotten these days“
“Not really happening for Hagi today. Still think he’ll come good if kept in the middle“
“Let today put to bed the argument that Hagi would be brilliant if we played him in his ‘natural position’. He isn’t good enough and never will be. People will argue, but it’s true“
“Hagi playing the position we all want to see him in but not really shining. Get your haircut son and your powers might just come back“
“Hagi shooting is so poor“
“Special mentions for Wright, Tav, Barisic and Kent. Basically everyone except Hagi“
In other news, one Rangers player has been linked with an Ibrox exit. Find out who it is here.
