Former Sheffield Wednesday striker Clinton Morrison has claimed that the Owls will not have it easy in League One next campaign, as reported by Examiner Live.

The former Republic of Ireland marksman fired a warning shot to Owls manager Darren Moore, stating: "What they [Wednesday] have got to realise is all the other teams in League One are going to want to beat them when they come to Hillsborough. Sheffield Wednesday is a huge club. When you go to all the big teams, you want to silence them."

Making for a mouth-watering prospect in 2021/22, much intrigue will likely surround Wednesday’s reaction to being relegated to League One for the first time since 2012 [The Athletic]. It has now been more than two decades since Hillsborough hosted Premier League football, with four seasons spent in the third tier since then, while serious financial problems could see Moore's side begin the 2021/22 campaign with a points deduction [The Sun on Sunday, via The 72].

With morale surrounding the club at a very low ebb and owner Dejphon Chansiri an unpopular figure among many supporters, some Sheffield Wednesday diehards took to Twitter to voice their disdain at the current situation.

"Oh stop it, we've heard all those pre-season excuses before. Leeds did the same and I suppose Sunderland have too. If you're good enough, you'll get promoted."

"We aren't a big club, yes we have a big stadium but means nothing. Being run like a pub team presently. Nowhere near pushing for promotion next campaign"
"We are only huge in name only!!"
"* we were * a huge club."
"I wish Wednesday would get out of this we are a big club. No you’re not you used to be 40 years ago. You are now a club surging on a shoestring which can’t even pay its players"
