Sunderland: Fans discuss whether club should sell Will Grigg after interest emerges

There were several incomings and outgoings at the Stadium of Light during January but the club ended up holding on to Will Grigg despite his poor form this term.
He was linked with multiple moves away from the north-east throughout January, with Salford and Swindon amongst those interested, but no move ever came to fruition. However, Sunderland did strengthen with the arrival of two players capable of playing up front in Kyle Lafferty and Antoine Semenyo, and it would seem that Grigg’s time at the club is numbered, with Shrewsbury registering an interest in the striker.
One goal in 19 league games is simply not good enough for a player reportedly on £10,000 per week in a promotion-chasing side, while he also doesn’t fit the Black Cats’ system as neatly as Charlie Wyke, as the latter’s return from injury has coincided with a run of just two defeats in 12 matches.
Grigg has consequently found himself out of the team of late and has now failed to feature since a 12-minute substitute appearance against Blackpool just before Christmas, and Sunderland are better for it.
Shrewsbury’s interest in the 28-year-old has sparked a discussion among some of the Sunderland fanbase about the Northern Ireland international, particularly over whether he should be let go or not.
I’d rather he did so we have the money to bring someone good in.

he never wanted to be here. When he’s been played he’s not interested. I for one (one of many, I’d suspect), will be glad to see him off the wage bill.

Wouldn’t be disappointed to see him go. It hasn’t worked. A bad fit for the style of play under both managers at the SoL.
Not heard any reports of him being a bad trainer or a wrong un.
Shame SD didn’t gamble everything he had on JM rather than let his ego chase this signing. ☹️— John Mitchell (@JohnMi7chell) February 13, 2020
He ain’t gonna score if he ain’t getting picked. Look at McNulty wasn’t getting picked and now he’s at Hibs he can’t stop scoring!

Never wanted to be here and you could tell from as early as South Shilds pre season

I think it is a great shame that it hasn’t worked out better, I wonder how he would go in the current eleven
