According to South American press Kenny Dalglish apparently clinched the Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates in a £10m swoop.
If so this would be Liverpool’s sixth signing of the summer following the exit of the big Greek Sotirios Kyrgiakos. At 20 his age fits in with Daglish transfer strategy too.
Liverpool are looking to get one over on their rivals in the bid to sign the 20 year-old Coates by offering £10million for the Uruguay centre-half. Man City, Juventus, Lazio, Porto and Benfica have all shown an interest in the huge talent.
Coates helped Uruguay win the Copa America last month and was voted the tournament’s Best Young Player. A long legged talent, he is hugely composed and deceptively quick across the ground, mainly due to his imposing 6ft 5in frame. He has more than this in his locker however, Coates is renowned for his outstanding tackling too.
