Some Newcastle United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have admitted they already have their eye on next season, after watching the Toon’s 2013/14 Premier League campaign die a slow and painful death over the past couple of months.
The performance level has dropped, the goals have dried up, the defending has disappeared, and Alan Pardew has been banned for headbutting a Hull City player.
The 4-0 hammering at Southampton last weekend was the final straw for many, who are angered by the way in which a season that showed early promise has tailed off so horribly.
Newcastle have also been without loan signing Loic Remy in recent weeks, with the France international ruled out through injury.
Remy has hit 13 goals for the Magpies this season, and in his absence it has to be said they look a completely different side.
The bad news is that the possibility of signing Remy on a permanent basis seems to be decreasing by the day, meaning Alan Pardew is under huge pressure to deliver positive signings during the next transfer window.
We have scrolled through the various rumours, and come up with five potential signings we think the fans wouldn’t be too happy with.
