However, rumoured moves for players such as City’s Emmanuel Adebayor look doubtful as Real president Florentino Perez has publicly stated that the club has no plans to sign a striker during the current window.
When asked by Marca about any potential moves he replied, “We won’t sign a striker.”
The speculation surrounding Madrid emerged following numerous requests from Mourinho for funds to improve his squad and mount a title challenge this season. However, despite a two-month lay-off for Real star Gonzalo Higuain and the struggling form of Karim Benzema, it would seem that the Blancos president is in no mood to flash the cash.
So it would seem any proposed move for Karim Benzema is a non starter and the door has been well and truly shut for Emmanuel Adebayor’s La Liga exit. Perhaps another club be the Togolese striker’s saving grace as he finds himself pushed further down the pecking order at Eastlands following the £27million signing of Bosnian Edin Dzeko.
