By the way Gooners, it’s not Cesc Fabregas so you can put your tissues away.
………It’s Manuel Almunia. He is being tracked by Turkish giants Galatasaray for a transfer fee in the region of just €1.8m with a salary amassing €60k-a -week.
The man who wanted to become England’s number one through way of citizenship was denied by Fabio Capello and now has been displaced by Lukasz Fabianski. His time at Arsenal looks set to be over shortly and maybe a move to Turkey will revive his stuttering career.
Even another young Polish international Wojciech Szczesny looks to have gone ahead of him in pecking order after impressive performances thus far in his opening four games. Athletico Madrid and Malaga are also keen on Almunia but Galatasaray are the favourites for his signature.
His contract runs out in 2012 so Arsenal will be looking to get a deal done this January transfer window. Also don’t rule out Arsene Wenger making further enquiries about Shay Given, Mark Schwarzer or any other ‘keepers as this has definitely been a problem area for a while now which they could address quite soon.
