Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that the club‘s 28-year-old forward, Jonathan Kodjia, will be back in training on Monday after undergoing ankle surgery. The news (posted on the club’s official Twitter account) of Kodjia’s return is a huge boost for the Villains, who currently sit four points behind Cardiff in the Championship’s automatic promotion places.
The Ivory Coast international has only managed eight appearances and a single goal for Villa this season as an injury-hit campaign has halted his progress at Villa Park. He’ll be hoping he can get fit and firing again to add to his highly successful first season that saw him net 19 goals in his 40 appearances in the Championship.

Kodjia finds himself returning with his club in a rich vein of form, winning their last two games in the league, scoring seven goals in the process. The Ivorian will have his work cut out for him as he targets a return to the first team as on-loan striker, Lewis Grabban, has been bang in form with three goals in as many games. Unfortunateley for Villa, Kodjia won’t be back in time for tomorrow’s visit of league-leaders, Wolves, to Villa Park in a game that could shape the rest of the season.
