Today we have already discussed the future of Didier Drogba at length but there is another former Chelsea striker who’s future is also up in the air. Nicolas Anelka is reportedly looking for a way out of his own Chinese exile, hoping to secure a return to one of the top clubs in Europe.
Anelka secured a move to Shanghai Shenhua in the January transfer window last year, but is now searching for a way out. Sky Sports report that talks are ongoing between the player and club over the termination of the forward’s contract and after just three goals since joining, the Frenchman is willing to give up the final year on his contract should the club agree to let him leave on a free.
The Chinese club’s spokesman Ma Yue claimed that: “The discussion is between the club and himself, I don’t know about the specific details, but so far we haven’t got the final result.” Whilst not attracting the level of interest that team mate Didier Drogba has seen, there are still a host of clubs in for the striker and a potential link up with Harry Redknapp at QPR has been mooted – with former compatriot Frank Lampard also on Redknapp’s radar.
