Are Jol & Pards Waiting On A Miracle?

Could footballing royalty be about to join the Premier League party? Probably not…

According to Talksport both Newcastle and Fulham are pondering “audacious” moves for Real Madrid legend Raul. Its two years since the striker left Madrid for Shalke, and the Spaniard has continued to impress despite his advancing years scoring an impressive 40 goals in 98 games.

Unfortunately for the Germans Raul now wants to leave for a different and more fulfilling challenge, and it seems Fulham and Newcastle now deem themselves worthy of the all time Champions League top scorer.

However it appears the man himself thinks otherwise, as he’s already stated he will not move to another major European league. Instead it is thought Qatar is likely to be his preferred destination, perhaps due to the unimaginable riches that would be available from such a move.

That won’t deter The Cottagers or indeed Newcastle from chasing up lost causes though, and reports in Spain suggest the Premier League duo have approached the players representatives already regarding a potential switch to England. Though they’ll no doubt hope the intensity and thrill of Premier League football will appeal to a 34 year old Spaniard who’s pretty much achieved everything there is to, you get the impression their target might just want to see out the rest of his career scoring for fun in the desert and earning stack loads.

It’s said that the Gonzalez family tried to convince Raul to remain at Schalke for a while longer, but he’s made his mind up and the star played his last game at home in front of Schalke’s fans last weekend.

With only one game left in the Bundesliga before he decides upon which move to make next, both Martin Jol and Alan Pardew – who have enjoyed successful seasons this term – will be hoping for a change of heart.. and perhaps a minor miracle.
