The Football Transfer Tavern is full of excitement after hearing the news from the Daily Star that Arsenal had beaten Chelsea and Manchester United to the signing of Beckham’s eldest son, Brooklyn.
Many expected him to follow in the footsteps of his father and go to United but instead he has opted for Arsenal with their family home in London.
The 15-year-old impressed the coaching staff at Arsenal so much that they signed him up for the rest of the season, with plans to sign him up on a permanent basis.
An Arsenal source said: “Brooklyn is talented and he has stood out in all of the training sessions and games he has played.
“He has had other teams sniffing around and it was always going to be a case of when, not if, he was signed up by a big-name club.
“Arsenal realise he can be a huge talent.
“They have seen that potential and protected their asset.
“The club has signed him, fending off interest from Manchester United and Chelsea in the meantime.
“Next summer we may see him sign a big-money deal and with Arsenal.”
The Beckham boys are well affiliated with Arsenal, with Brooklyn’s 12-year-old brother Romeo, impressing in their under 13s whilst Cruz, 9, is playing for the under 10s too.
