Arsenal eyeing move for Paris Saint Germain duo ahead of 6pm deadline

CavaniThe Transfer Tavern is busy today on deadline day with rumours and whispers circulating in all corners. One of those that has been turning football fans heads alike is reports surfacing from the Daily Mail this morning, with the news that Arsene Wenger was last night spotted in Paris. It is believed Wenger is trying to seal a double deal for PSG striker Edinson Cavani and defensive midfielder Adrien Rabiot – which could cost up to a reported £66m.

Having seemingly given up his pursuit of Karim Benzema, which saw Arsenal fans sinking a few pints in sorrow, it seems Wenger has turned his attentions to Cavani to bolster his strike force for the coming season.

Despite the PSG striker scoring two goals at the weekend it has always appeared that the club may be willing to let him go, with him failing to replicate the scintillating form at he showed Napoli which saw the club part with nearly £50m for his services.

Along with rumours he is unhappy playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which has often resulted in him being shifted onto the wing.

With the pressure really on Wenger to deliver new signings – with only Petr Cech joining the club thus far. It seems Cavani may not be the only player Arsenal try and sign on deadline day, with any deal struck likely to also include the highly rated 20-year-old, Adrien Rabiot – a player who made his Champions League debut at the age of only 17.

Although the deal looks difficult to have it completed on time, Arsenal fans in here are holding their breath and could be making good use of happy hour later on if the deal goes through. With Cavani in particular representing the sort of big name signing they have been craving all summer!
