Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not sure what the future holds for their unwanted star after the London Evening Standard revealed he is in talks with Galatasaray over a potential move.
The German forward who has always been a consistent performer for Arsenal is not in Arsene Wenger’s plans.
Punters in the Tavern were shocked when he was loaned out to Inter Milan last January but after Arsenal’s successful run in at the end of the season, there doesn’t look like there is room for his return.
At 30 years of age, the German forward may not have much time left in his career but the landlord in the Tavern is convinced he is still capable of competing at the top level.
It doesn’t help that he frustratingly spent the majority of last season struggling for game time whilst at Arsenal and at Inter, this has left people confused in the Tavern as they think it is crazy to let him go.
But as far as Podolski is concerned he will be relieved that Galatasaray have come to Arsenal and it is believed the Turkish giants are set to offer him a contract worth around £50,000-a-week.
