Demba Ba will leave Newcastle United as soon as the transfer window opens in January. That’s the news being reported by Mirror Football that has left Geordie fans reeling in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
The St. James’ Park side have been unable to agree a new deal with the in demand striker and are keen to let him leave almost immediately so they can focus on bringing in a quality replacement.
They are ardent on avoiding another Andy Carroll situation where they ran out of time to sign another forward after the home grown striker signed for Liverpool in 2010.
Alan Pardew has lined up a move for Marseille striker Loic Remy as a straight replacement for the Ivory Coast forward and are hopeful of agreeing a deal worth £10 million to capture the French hitman.
Ba, who has already netted 10 times for the Magpies this season, is unsurprisingly attracting interest from across the Premier League given his £7.5 million release clause which comes back into force in January.
However the transfer is almost certain to cost his new club a great deal more than just the release cause given his requested £80,000-a-week wages and his large agent fees.
