It’s a rumour that just won’t seem to go away in the Football Transfer Tavern and Daily Mirror’s Matt Law was once again declaring that David Beckham’s next port of call will be in France with Paris Saint Germain yesterday evening.
Law enlightened punters with news that the French giants expect to seal his signature next month when he officially leaves America.
Although he played his last game for LA Galaxy on Saturday night, helping his side claim the MLS Cup with a 3-1 victory over Houston Dynamo, he is still contracted to immediately go on a 10-day end-of-season tour with Galaxy.
Law later shouts over the bar that Beckham had personally recommended that Real Madrid midfielder Kaka should be his replacement at LA Galaxy and that he spoke to the midfielder about life in the MLS. It was thought that Frank Lampard was set to replace his former England teammate but Beckham’s influence has put Kaka at the top of the club’s wishlist.
Harry Redknapp and QPR were believed to be leading the chase to lure the former Manchester United superstar back to the Premier League last week but according to Law they now face frustration as he prepares to arrive in France instead.
