Blackpool To Do ‘A Burnley’ & Throw The Towel In?

Charlie AdamSo what of the future of Charlie Adam? Seems Ian Holloway has a big job on to keep their captain at Bloomfield Road.

Aston Villa and Birmingham are reported to be making enquiries to the North-West club over a £3.5million deal, with the Seasiders’ skipper keen on a move.

However, Holloway is desperate to keep his captain and has reportedly told Adam that he is too good to waste his talent on a jump-ship January move to the midlands.

The Blackpool boss would be willing to listen to offers at the end of the season, but would prefer that his captain helps his club survive the campaign first.

The midfield ace has been the heart and soul of the Blackpool team so far this season and has impressed with his talismanic displays for the Seasiders. Losing such a talent could hinder Blackpool’s progress and lead them to a similar fate that Premiership minnows Burnley suffered last season following the January departure of manager, Owen Coyle.

In 2009, Adam signed a two-year deal with Blackpool with the option to extend for another year. In his current form, it is unlikely that the Scottish midfielder will be staying at Bloomfield Road after the summer.

The reduced finances at the club and Adam’s contract length will have a great affect on his value and anything around £4million would be considered by the Seasiders. Unfortunately, it would be up to manager, Holloway, to convince the former Rangers man otherwise.

A player of Adam’s ability would be a snip at £3.5million and there can be little doubt that Villa and Birmingham will not be the only club’s considering a move for the 25-year-old. But would losing their star really lead to a capitulation? What say you Blackpool fans?
