Bolton net Premier League defender on loan

Ever since their untimely relegation from the Premier League, Bolton Wanderers supporters have become scarce in the Football Transfer Tavern but this  morning one dropped by to let us know that highly rated West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson has moved to the Reebok Stadium on loan.

Dawson will play for Dougie Freedman’s Trotters for the next three months, according to Sky Sports and can be regarded something of a coup for the Championship side with a host of rival second tier clubs interested in bringing him in this January.

Dawson has been unable to start many games for the Baggies ahead of the formidable partnership of Jonas Olsson and Gareth McAuley but Steve Clarke still sees a big future for the former Rochdale man at The Hawthorns.

Freedman began his interest in the England Under-21 international and Team GB representative when he was still in charge of Crystal Palace and he told Sky Sports: “We have worked very hard on this one and he has had half a dozen teams to pick from.

“I’m very pleased he’s coming to us, and not I would like to point out, for money reasons. The kid feels this is where he would like to better himself.”

“I have been after Craig for a few months, to be honest. And it’s paid off”

Dawson is the third signing of the transfer window at the Reebok along with Craig Davies from Barnsley and Slovak youngster Jan Gregus who has joined on loan from Banik Ostrava.
