Whilst we love a rumour in the Football Transfer Tavern we also love a done deal and Sky Sports report that Werder Bremen have completed just that with their signing of highly rated NK Zagreb defender Mateo Pavlovic.
The youngster has penned a deal that is set to take him through until 2016 and after being tracked by the club’s scouts for some time, he has now finally made the move from NK Zagreb. Of course the move will be made official when the transfer window opens in January, but for now Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf is relishing the prospect of linking up with the player, saying that: “He’s a big, ball winning and aerially dominant centre half who has good technique. With Mateo, we have acquired a player who improves our squad with his qualities.”
The 22-year-old is considered to be one of the hottest properties in football and with the player already having played for the Croatian Under-21 team, his stock looks set to rise even further, leading Bremen director Frank Baumman to express more enthusiasm than many of our punters on special offer night gushing that: “We have been watching Mateo for quite some time. He is a young, talented centre-back who brings a lot of potential and fits in well with our requirements.”
