The 30-year-old former World Player of the Year is widely tipped to leave current club AC Milan who feel the player has not done enough to justify his €7.5million per annum wage demands.
The Brazilian’s current deal expires in June and a move to the Premier League may be the only way to secure such an extravogant wage. Without any renewal at the San Siro, he could move for free at the end of the season, however Milan may welcome a January move to recoup some of the €22.5million paid for the star.
Ronaldinho had previously been linked with moves to the MLS at LA Galaxy or to his home country of Brazil but rumours that have circulated from Itasportpress.it suggest Hodgson is ready to make an offer.
Reds’ midfielder Lucas Leiva has publically welcomed any swoop for the World Cup winner and may help secure the tricky midfielders signature.
“I am not aware of anything in terms of Ronaldinho signing, but I would be very happy if this was to happen,” Leiva told Globoesporte.
“We started a friendship when we played in the Olympics and for Brazil. It would be nice to play with him at Liverpool.
“Everyone knows Ronaldinho and they know what he can do.”
Not everyone has been such a fan of the 30-year-old in recent years though, poor form led to his Barcelona departure and he has failed to recapture the form that once saw him win the Ballon D’Or since joining Milan. Infact he has recently been nominated for the rather less prestigious Bidone d’Oro, which from Italian translates as the Golden Dustbin. The award is handed out each year to the most disappointing player in Serie A.
More average signings then? Sounds just up Woy’s street.
