Swansea City are making a good fist of things under new manager Carlos Carvalhal, and picked up a dogged and determined win last weekend against Liverpool.
The Swans, led by their new Portuguese coach, are looking to secure their place in the Premier League for next season, and will be hoping for a positive end to the January window as they seek to add a few players who can assist them in the relegation dog fight.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord has been doing his homework on Carvalhal, and always enjoyed watching his Sheffield Wednesday side over the last few campaigns. With some of that Owls squad possessing massive quality, he thinks Carvalhal could well be wise to make a few moves on his old club.
One such player who is close to working his way back to full fitness is midfield general Sam Hutchinson, who has been an integral part of the Owls’ success over the last 24 months.
The former Chelsea youth player is a quality Championship midfielder, and is not someone who is afraid to put his foot in and do the dirty work, exactly the sort of player that is needed in a relegation scrap.
Hutchinson has built a reputation as somewhat of a hard-man during his time with Wednesday, and Carvalhal was a big fan of the midfielder, who can also slot in at centre half if needed.
‘Hutch’ would be a superb addition at this time of the season for the Swans, and would surely relish the chance to leave Hillsborough, with the Owls in the midst of a terrible season thus far.
Swansea fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
