An ongoing meme involving the classic ‘Roses are red…’ poem teamed up with a piece of footballing commentary has now been used by Charlton and plenty of fans aren’t happy.
The official Charlton Twitter account has posted their version of the currently popular meme and many fans have got their heads in their hands.
The video features a clip of Patrick Bauer’s celebrations following his last-gasp goal against Sunderland in last season’s play-off final to clinch the win for his side. The Addicks had gone 1-0 down following a Naby Sarr own goal but pulled back an equaliser late into the first half.
Bauer’s goal ended Sunderland’s hopes of returning to the Championship and sent Charlton back up. It was a glorious day for Addicks fans but they aren’t impressed with the club’s post. One supporter has asked the club to delete the post whilst another is at the end of their tether, tweeting ‘announce administration’.
