Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are intrigued to hear some promising reports from the bar staff today, which suggest the club is making moves to land an extremely promising striker.
The Telegraph states Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was in Bordeaux this week to scout Spanish forward Alvaro Morata in Los Rojas defeat to Croatia, where the 23-year-old striker opened the scoring in a 2-1 loss.
That effort put Morata top of the scoring charts, alongside Gareth Bale, and it came on the eve of confirmation that Real Madrid had activated a buy-back clause in the striker’s contract with Juventus, two years after he left the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, Morata is now expected to stay in the Spanish capital for long as Zinedine Zidane’s side are poised to sell the striker on for a profit, with a fee of around £40m expected to be what Los Blancos desire.
Chelsea’s lack of Champions League football could be problematic though but that could be erased by Antonio Conte’s input.
Would Morata be a good fit for Chelsea? Let us know in the comments below!
