The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are liking the sound of this…
Antonio Conte has led his side fantastically this season, but the Italian is seemingly not content with the players at his disposal.
Having had to opt for fairly similar teams for much of the season, it seemed likely that Conte would go in search of more depth this month – and it would appear as though that is exactly what he plans to do.
According to the Times, Antonio Conte is planning a wing-back rebuild at Stamford Bridge – with West Ham man Michail Antonio and Cologne left-back Jonas Hector both in the running.
The Times describe Antonio as ‘topping’ the list – signifying that the Blues are sure to launch a move for the breakout West Ham winger, who has looked good when played slightly deeper by Slaven Bilic so far this season.
With Chelsea impressing in the Premier League, our landlord thinks that the duo would almost certainly both come in as backup options, with current first-choice wing-backs Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses both unlikely to be dropped after such an impressive start to the season.
The Blues, marshalled by Antonio Conte, had been expected to bounce back this year after a torrid season last year – but nobody could have predicted how well the Blues have done. Flying high at the top of the Premier League, Conte appears to have reignited the winning spirit in the players at Stamford Bridge – and the Blues in the Transfer Tavern have been delighted with their fine form.
Conte recently confirmed that Chelsea would not be signing any central defenders, though he did not rule out signing full-backs – meaning that the Italian certainly could be looking to upgrade his options in the role.
