Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City fans here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are liking what they have just read in the Guardian, with the publication linking them with Augsburg’s Baba Rahman.
The defender has attracted attention from all over Europe and a few whispers around the dartboard have reported he could cost in the region of €20m (£14m).
The Ghana international joined Augsburg from former club Greuther Fürth last summer, has been touted be on the transfer list of clubs to the likes of Roma, Juventus, Internazionale and Atlético Madrid after an impressive season in Germany.
But the Premier League looks to be the ideal destination for the 21-year-old, with Chelsea reported to have contacted his representatives last month to discuss arrangement of a potential bid.
Augsburg’s sporting director Stefan Reuter insisted they wanted to hold on to a player who still has four years of his contract remaining.
“There is nothing concrete on our table with regard to Abdul Rahman Baba,” he told the German publication Kicker.
“We are very happy to have him at our club, we are delighted he is playing for our club. We have been happy to hear him saying he feels great being with us.”
