New Wigan Athletic loan capture Angelo Henriquez has grabbed the headlines at the Football Transfer Tavern after the Mail Online reported just how fired up the 18-year-old is ahead of his Premier League debut.
Manchester United carried on their trend of sending young players out on loan in order to gain first team Premier league experience, and young Henriquez is no different . The Chile international is set to make his debut for the Latics in the FA Cup this weekend and is raring to go.
The player claimed: “this is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am really excited after the manager has given this chance for me to prove myself.” It was not just Henriquez who was excited over his prospects at the DW Stadium, with Roberto Martinez gushing that: “We’re really excited about Angelo because he is a very young man with a huge potential; he’s a goal scorer with clever movement inside the box and has had a very successful time with his former club Universidad.”
Of course, in the long-term the 18-year-old sees his future at Old Trafford, but due to the wealth of striking talent in Manchester United’s squad at present, a loan move and a chance to play regular first team football seems the best option in his overall development.
