Classy Laudrup Looks To La Liga With Cash On His Hip

Many people will have thought of Swansea as relegation favourites, a certain developer of the dreaded second season syndrome. With a new manager and many new faces to help with the loss of some important players last season it was difficult to judge exactly how the Swan’s would start this year under Laudrup.

The fact that they have played twice conceded 0 and scored 8 will be music to the hardcore of the Liberty stadium’s ears.

You’d think that the Swansea City dressing room is one of harmony but unfortunately Scott Sinclair has the smell of money in his nostrils and they are leading him toward the Etihad. With this in mind Laudrup wants another winger.

Once again he is looking toward La Liga to fill the gap. And why the hell not. Chico Flores looks an excellent centre back and Michu who scored 15 goals for Rayo Vallecano last season has already gotten 3 in 2 this season. According to tuttomercatoweb.com the newest target is Diego Castro of Getafe. A right footed left winger that has been apart of the first teams of Getafe and Sporting Gijon before that, for the past 5 seasons he would bring a wealth of experience to a team that looks to have a good balance between the latter and youth.

He is able to chip in with the odd goal too which will suit the style of Swansea who like to play attacking football and seem to already have a good amount of goals in the midfield. A factor that will certainly help them if they can keep it up for a whole season.

According to reports though Getafe aren’t in the mood to sell so it may well depend upon the sum Swansea receive for Sinclair and how much money will make Getafe listen.

I see no reason why this addition to the squad wouldn’t work. So far Laudrup has brought in some good quality from La Liga, at a cheap price too and with Sinclair gone he will need another winger to deepen his squad before Friday. I did however write about another rumour that linked Swansea to Pablo Hernandez of Valencia who could be an excellent acquisition for them. According to Swansea.vitalfootball.co.uk they are still trying to get the experienced winger.

This then makes the pursuit of Castro look like a fall back if they cannot get Hernandez. Of the two Hernandez is certainly the option they should opt for and Laudrup should use all his powers of persuasion to try and tempt him to Wales. Castro would fit into the Swansea squad without a problem but Hernandez would command a place in the first team every week and is old and wise enough not to let his ego become bloated at any special treatment that might come his way.

Laudrup is being very careful about his transfer dealings and if everything goes his way he will be adding another dash of quality or dependability from La Liga. Either way I hope their entertaining brand of football carries on.
