Liverpool are set to offer Diego a way out of Wolfsburg this summer. The Brazilian play-maker has become disillusioned with the life at the club causing friction between himself and the manager.
After storming out on his team mates, it looks highly unlikely that the midfielder will ever play for the club again. According to Bild, manager, Felix Magath has asked the chairman to sell the player with the valuation at around €10m or he will let the player rot in the reserves next season in the Fourth division. The prospect of lower division football is unlikely to appeal that much to the Brazilian meaning his agent is going to have a big summer to try and get him out of there.
“If a club wants to sign Diego, they need to get in touch with us,” Magath told Bild.
Damien Comolli and Kenny Dalglish will be rubbing their hands at this opportunity with their long term target becoming available at a very reasonable price. Diego would be a welcome signing for the Merseyside club as it would add flair and creativity to the midfield as they aim for a top four finish next season.
At just €10m , Diego would be a bargain for the club as he is still yet to hit his best years as a footballer and is very aware of the interest from Liverpool.
“Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world. An interest I am honoured,” Said Diego when asked about the speculation back in March.
At the time the midfielder declared his happiness at Wolfsburg but since they have plummeted down the league, finishing only one place off relegation. The Brazilian international would therefore welcome a move away from Die Wölfe and after such apparent admiration for the Merseysiders, they are favourites to get his signature.
Diego would be a fantastic signing for Dalglish as he looks to build his own squad. This could be another Premier League star in the making as Liverpool look to create a new chapter in the history of their club.
