Cottagers Hand Trial to £1.5m Shot-Stopper

Viktor NoringMark Hughes has handed a trial to Trelleborg shot-stopper Viktor Noring.

The 19-year-old Swede has impressed at his parent club since he was handed a surprise first XI place at only 18 years of age.

In his first season full season at Trelleborgs he had a saving percentage of 78% and was named ‘rookie of the year’ in the Swedish league. He continues to improve for the Allsvenskan outfit where his saving percentage has improved this season to 82%.

Should the youngster impress at Craven Cottage, he could become a Fulham player in a matter of days. However, for an unproven player coming out of Scandinavia, an asking price of £1.5million may appear rather steep.

Club chairman, Per-Anders Abrahamsson, confirmed this when speaking to Sydsvenskan: “We certainly want 15-20million Kronor (£1.5-2m) for the player.”

Current Fulham keeper, Mark Schwarzer, is fast approaching 40 and Hughes may be thinking about the Aussie shot-stoppers eventual retirement. David Stockdale is their current number 2, though Noring’s trial may suggest that the former Blackburn manager doesn’t believe that the 25-year-old is good enough to be any more than a back-up.
