In news that has the Manchester City fans looking up from the pool table at the Football Transfer Tavern, former Inter Milan right back Maicon has been strongly linked with a move back to the club he enjoyed so much success with prior to his switch to England.
Football Italia report that Maicon’s agent Roberto Calenda spoke to Interlive.it and claimed that: “A return to Inter is impossible, absolutely impossible. He gave seven years to the Nerazzurri and even if you can never say never in football, a return for Maicon doesn’t seem possible.”
As our landlord takes a break from pulling pints, he rightly points out that the Brazilian full back has struggled to recreate the form he enjoyed during Inter’s treble winning season and has missed multiple games for the English champions, and as Tuttosport rightly say, there has been multiple issues for the Italian giants at right back this season and a return for the player who knows the club so well could at least be a short-term solution for Andrea Stramaccioni’s men.
The 31-year-old cost Roberto Mancini £3.5 million, however he is not even first choice with the Citizens meaning the right back spot is comprehensively out of Maicon’s reach and he is often overlooked for the impressive Pablo Zabaleta.
