Roque Santa Cruz has had a nightmare start to his Manchester City career to say the least. He has managed just four goals in twenty-four appearances in all competitions and he has been subject to a lot of transfer speculation for several months now.
Steve McClaren’s VFL Wolfsburg are the latest club to be linked with the Paraguay captain and a permanent transfer looks very likely. The real question everyone is asking themselves is, what does this mean for Edin Dzeko? Is he going to be part of a swap deal plus money going to the German club?
Santa Cruz, 29, is a very good player and he had a successful spell at Bayern Munich before he signed for Blackburn so he is used to playing in the German Bundesliga. McClaren will do well to sign him in my opinion and with Dzeko looking to find a ‘bigger’ club, he needs a replacement.
A host of top European clubs have been chasing Dzeko since he burst onto the scene two years ago and his fantastic goalscoring record has certainly caught Manchester City’s eye.
A deal could be made in the next 24 hours regarding both Santa Cruz and Dzeko so maybe expect the Bosnian star to play Arsenal on Wednesday?
