Madrid, leading by 4 goals towards the end of the game, had both Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos on yellow cards, their second of the group stage. They both risked suspension from their next game with any booking received later on in the competition and having already qualified, both players used extreme time wasting to get a second booking. Brilliant.
Well here they are, the exclusive photos to prove that the mastermind Jose Mourinho used ex-Liverpool keeper Jerzy Dudek to pass on the message to the lads on the pitch, it’s no wonder Ramos decided to take the second goal kick.
I love it when this sort of thing happens in football. The Sky Sports panel spent a good ten minutes arguing over whether it was a fair thing to do to encourage the two sendings off.
Fair play to them I say, plus I’d hate to see either of them miss a big knock out round match. Until Fifa change the rules so that bookings don’t count after the first qualifying round this will keep happening. Bravo!
