Forget Lawro – Here’s Saturday’s Predictions

Is it safe to come out? That wedding guff is definitely over, yeah? Good. Let’s go.This weekend is packed with games but whilst they are all important from a staying up/going down/top four finish perspective… today’s games in the main – are strictly for the hardcore.

Blackburn vs Bolton

Bolton will probably be remembered this season for getting thumped by Stoke at Wembley but that’s not a reflection on their season or the improvement that has taken place under Owen Coyle. That said, Bolton’s away form is ropey and with Blackburn’s tendency to draw a lot at home this may not be a Box Office game. Prediction 2-2.

Blackpool vs Stoke

The fact that the Tangerines have only managed to squeeze out 2 draws and lost the rest of their last 8 games home and away speaks volumes. Stoke look buoyant enough and won’t give a fig about the consequences if they beat Blackpool today. ‘Ollie’ will be lucky to get a draw and that won’t be enough. Prediction 1-3.

Sunderland vs Fulham

Poor old Steve Bruce. Part of me thinks that Niall Quinn has brought this on himself with his bad karma attack on people watching games in pubs on dodgy satellites. Fulham haven’t won at away since 1742 but the result here is a bit by the by as neither are at risk of doing anything spectacular this season. Prediction 2-2.

West Brom vs Aston Villa

The Baggies seem to have tip toed their way away from relegation whereas Villa seem to have tip toed their way towards it. To be honest, here are two teams going nowhere anytime soon. I won’t be watching. Prediction 1-1.

Wigan vs Everton

If Wigan can nick a point out of this then they deserve to stay up. They’ve had a dog of a season but recent games have shown I guess what fear can do to pep up eleven average footballers. Everton have had another very Everton type season and I believe they’ll edge it. Prediction 1-2.

Chelsea vs Tottenham

The last time Spurs won at Stamford Bridge Hitler was a just a frustrated painter. By contrast, Chelsea are resurgent and the idea that Torres might fancy a second goal anytime soon must be rattling a Tottenham side that is now trying to decide if it can finish sixth and thus avoid the long hard slog that is the Europa. Prediction 3-1.
