Sunderland fans playing darts in The Transfer Tavern are looking quizzical following an interview with a former Premier League striker.

Jan Aage Fjortoft was being interviewed by Talksport when he suggested that the club should take a chance on employing former USA coach Bob Bradley.

Bradley led the Americans to the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 and, although not the first choice on many Sunderland fans list, he would bring a wealth of experience to the club. Talking to Talksport, Fjortoft said:

“I have followed Bob very closely, I have known him for the last two years, and he has done a fantastic job at Stabaek. You can say it’s only Norway but a leader is a leader wherever you go and Bob Bradley is one of these clear leaders.”

“He took a team that is always favourites to go down and now he looks like taking them into Europe. He has done a fantastic job and any English club looking for a good leader, they should go for Bob Bradley.”

“He is very respected in America and him and Bruce Arena are the two most rated in America. With Sunderland’s owner being American he will know all about him. I don’t know if there has been contact, but if Sunderland want the best available, they should go for him.”

Sunderland will be looking to fill the managers position as quickly as possible following Advocaat’s decision to resign on Saturday.
