Former West Ham United trio set for Sunderland trial as Allardyce looks to reshuffle side

Allardyce has done it with an unfancied side before Sunderland fans playing pool in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports that a trio of former West Ham United players are set to have a trial with the club

HITC is reporting that new manager Sam Allardyce has offered Carlton Cole, Kevin Nolan, and Ricardo Vaz Te a chance to earn a contract with the North East side.

The players of course are no strangers to Allardyce with all playing a major role with West Ham during his time as manager of the club.

Unfortunately their time with West Ham came to end with Cole and Vaz Te both leaving in the summer, and Nolan finding himself released from his contract next month.

Since their release Cole has spent time on trial with Scottish Premier League champions Celtic, where an injury scuppered his chances of being awarded a contract, whilst Nolan has been keeping fit by training with League Two side Leyton Orient, whilst Vaz Te was most recently training with West Bromwich Albion.

Allardyce is being forced to look into the free agent market to strengthen his squad until the transfer window opens up in January.

The Sunderland fans in The Transfer Tavern are not entirely convinced by the trio, but if they add something to their struggling squad they are more than willing for them to be given a chance.

Sunderland fans are you convinced that the trio would be a good addition to your squad?
