French striker deal in place for Newcastle?

Newcastle United have been a hot topic of conversation of late in the Football Transfer Tavern, and according to Jason Burt of the Telegraph, a deal may already be in place for the start of the January transfer window.

With all the speculation on Demba Ba’s future, Alan Pardew looks to have moved quickly to sign a potential replacement or partner for the Senegalese striker, in the form of Loic Remy from Marseille.

The Frenchman has been attracting attention from a lot of clubs across Europe, but Newcastle are hopeful they will be the ones to secure his services for a £10 million fee.

The deal is believed to have been agreed in principle, although Marseille are thought to want a Newcastle player in exchange, with Gabriel Obertan the name being mentioned.

Remy has 17 caps for France, and has managed 27 goals in 68 appearances since joining the club back in 2010.

Newcastle fans, what do you think of your clubs interest in Remy? Can you see him being a replacement or a partner for Ba? Vote in our polls below.
