With Blackburn in the midst of one hell of a relegation battle they need reinforcement, and they have one lined up: Bolo Zenden.
Blast from the past Zenden, formerly of Chelsea and Liverpool, is currently without a club and would be eager for the chance to play again. The winger is now 35 and has not had a club since leaving Sunderland in the summer. Despite this Rovers boss Kean feels Zenden can still bring something, besides L’Oreal advert hair, to the team.
“We spoke with Bolo when he came in, he had a look at us and had a look about the training ground. We spoke at length and I think it was important for him to understand where we wanted him to play”
Kean told The Mirror.
“He’s had plenty of offers to go a level down in this and other countries, but he wants to finish his career at the top end and that’s important for him.
“We’re confident we’ve made a good case for what we want to do, where he would fit in, play him and what the dynamic is. I’m sure he left much more positive that when he came and that was important from our point of view.”
It’s hard to see Zenden making a huge impact to Rovers season, but with this being a free transfer it offer little risk for Steve Kean, and may stay with the club even if they go down. The move is also a win for Zenden, who must have feared having to drop down to Championship.
