David Beckham looks on the verge on completing his proposed loan move to Tottenham according to Goal.com. Redknapp admitted yesterday that things had been quiet since their proposal had been sent to the MLS club, but now it would appear that they have granted permission for the move.
The former England captain’s services will not come cheap though and Spurs are prepared to offer a salary package worth around £120k p/w and will pay LA Galaxy a £500k loan fee.
The 35-year-old should be available for at least eight Prem fixtures as well as the mouth-watering Champions League clash away at former club AC Milan.
The proposed deal should be completed before the weekend and will allow Spurs to unveil Beckham in their upcoming home FA Cup fixture against Charlton.
The former Real Madrid man could be available for selection against former club Manchester United on January 16th, though Redknapp has insisted that Beckham would have to prove his fitness before he would consider first team selection.
Spurs have looked like frontrunners for Beckham’s signature since day one, however the proposed loan deal had been cast in doubt as the midfielder’s current employers had appeared reluctant to let their prized asset leave. Competition from rival clubs has also given the Spurs manager cause for concern, but the North London club had emerged as Beckham’s first choice through Redknapp’s son, Jamie.
Tottenham were finally given the go ahead late on Tuesday evening. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will now meet with MLS and Galaxy representatives to conclude the deal.
