Ghana international set for Fulham move

The January transfer window is in full swing in the Football Transfer Tavern this week and Fulham are next on board with Mail Online journalist Simon Jones reporting that Ghanaian international Derek Boateng will have a medical at Craven Cottage today ahead of a bargain £2 million move.

The Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk midfielder was close to signing for the Cottagers during the summer but talks broke down on deadline day. However Martin Jol was still keen to capture his man and successful talks were held in December with a hope of completing the deal when the window opened.

An agreement has now been reached and Boateng is in London today to finalise the deal to bring the midfielder to Craven Cottage. The only small hitch is securing a work permit at a hearing on Friday but as he has achieved 40 caps for his country, this shouldn’t prove a hindrance in the deal.

The 29-year-old has played all over Europe after previous spells in Greek football at Panathinaikos, Bundesliga outfit FC Koln and in Israel for Beitar Jerusalem among others.

Martin Jol wants to strengthen his midfield to give his defence better protection after they conceded a worrying 37 times in their 21 Premier League games this season and the powerful midfielder will offer this cover.
