The bored barmaid dries a pint glass and dreams of that Gap Year to Australia, that will never happen. Nothing much is happening. But today’s Daily Mirror brings news which has shattered the peaceful calm of this internet public house…
It’s being reported that another Gunner has been linked to the Catalan giants Barcelona. This time it’s the turn of Samir Nasri, who has 16 months left on his Arsenal contract. Barcelona are supposed to very interested in the Frenchman, and could spend over 25 million Euros on the player.
Nasri himself is flattered by the interest, and Arsenal have suggested that if they win the Premier League this season then they would be willing to sell the 23 year old. Nasri’s agent however, is insistent that the player will stay at the Emirates next season as Samir prepares to enter contract talks with Arsene Wenger.
Nasri has been quoted as saying,
‘We promised to speak about this subject after the season ends. As things are right now, I feel happy here and I have the confidence from the manager.’ Nasri has his sights set firmly on the title, and is desperate to win at least one before he finishes his time at Arsenal. ‘One of the reasons I came to Arsenal was to win titles, and I’m not expecting to leave without one.’
Arsenal’s midfield is currently the envy of the world, with speculation rife that Cesc Fabregas could also be a Barcelona target at the end of the season.
And so, peace resumes over the sleepy little tavern. Anyone fancy a packet of crisps?
